18U Nationals – July 31 – Aug 6, 2017

Bellevue Blast 2000 had a great week in Salem, Oregon at the USA Girls’ 18A Fast Pitch Nationals.  Forty nine teams from all over the country came together to play two days of pool games, then a double elimination bracket.   Blast 2000 started off fast with a 13-3 victory over Blaze United on Wednesday, but fell to  the eventual runner up in the tournament, All American Mizuno – Walker on Thursday morning.

Blast 00 plays for WA Games II Championship

Bellevue Blast 2000 played for the Washington Games II Championship against Grants Pass 18U yesterday but came up short.  Blast reached the championship game by beating Tigers FP 9-1 and Mayhem 12-4 earlier in the day.  The team hit .403 for the weekend with 5 home runs by 4 players — Ariana Arnone, Elliet Bradshaw, Noelle Thomas, and Sam Simmons (2.)  Eight doubles, three by Olivia Kane, and a hustle triple by Devon Chapman highlighted the other extra base hits by the team.  Blast 2000 is looking forward to playing in the 18U Nationals in Salem, Oregon starting July 31st.  Good luck, Bellevue Blast 2000!

Congratulations to Bellevue Blast 2000 for winning the Wounded Warriors Part 2 for the 18u bracket over June 17-18. Saturday was no errors and no runs by opponents with great pitching by Ava Schamel and Kaitlyn Recob. Sunday was a team effort by all by winning the semi final and the championship.

Blast 2000 is 2nd in WA Games II

Bellevue Blast 2000 beat Blaze IMPACT 9-1, then topped the Elite Diamonds 2000 7-5 in a back-and-forth affair.

In the championship game, Bellevue Blast 2000 16U dropped a high-scoring affair to Canes – Burgess, 13-11
Fifteen hits weren’t enough for Bellevue Blast 2000 16U as it lost a shootout, 13-11 in six innings, to Canes – Burgess on Sunday.
Sam Simmons racked up five RBIs on two hits for Bellevue Blast 2000 16U. She singled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Even though Carissa Burgess allowed seven runs over six innings she still recorded the victory. Burgess struck out nine, walked none and gave up 13 hits.
The top of the first saw Canes – Burgess take an early lead, 4-0. Burgess doubled, plating Kassy Cruz after a double by Cruz got things started. Canes – Burgess then tacked on more runs when Burgess scored on an RBI single by Audree Montmeny and Montmeny scored on a two-run home run by Trinity Kies.
It didn’t take long for Bellevue Blast 2000 16U to respond as it scored four runs of its own in the first. Bellevue Blast 2000 16U scored on an RBI triple by Ren Watanabe, a two-run single by Simmons, and an RBI single by Elliet Bradshaw.
The lead stayed with Canes – Burgess after the second, when it scored three runs on a groundout by Autumn Heitzman and an RBI single by Kies.
Canes – Burgess piled on five more runs in the top of the third. Montmeny kicked things off with a single, bringing home Paige West.
Two runs in the bottom of the third helped Bellevue Blast 2000 16U close its deficit to 12-6. An error and an RBI single by Watanabe sparked Bellevue Blast 2000 16U’s rally. Finally, Burgess induced an inning-ending strike out from Noelle Thomas.
After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fourth, Bellevue Blast 2000 16U faced just a 13-7 deficit. An RBI single by Olivia Kane triggered Bellevue Blast 2000 16U’s comeback. Finally, Burgess got Holly Darrow to strike out to end the threat.
Four runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Bellevue Blast 2000 16U close its deficit to 13-11. A three-run double by Simmons and an error fueled Bellevue Blast 2000 16U’s comeback. But, Burgess got Darrow to strike out to end the inning.
